Choosing
Questions families usually have first
Choosing subjects at IGCSE
Students take six to eight subjects at IGCSE. The combination matters, because some university courses require specific subjects at A Level, and those A Levels in turn require the IGCSE. We go through this with families in Grade 8 rather than leaving it until Grade 9 has already started.
Cambridge or Edexcel
Both are British international qualifications and both are accepted by universities. The practical differences are in subject availability and examination session timing. We advise per subject rather than putting a whole student on one board by default.
Moving into IGCSE from another system
A student coming from a national curriculum has usually covered different content in a different order. Before placing a student we look at their previous report cards, identify which parts of the IGCSE specification they have not seen, and set the catch-up work needed for the first term.
The FBISE route
Families who intend to return to Pakistan, or who want their child to continue on the Pakistani board, can take SSC in Grades 9 and 10 and HSSC in Grades 11 and 12 here. This runs alongside the British section in the same building.
